Family Governed Southeastern Waukesha County Inc, a not-for-profit corporation is a collective of innovative families who have come together with the commitment to assuring that our adult children with disabilities (self-advocates) live healthy, safe, and
community-based lives. Our young adults rely on Medicaid to meet their healthcare needs and to receive the support necessary to live and work independently.
Kathryn explains, “Medicaid funding helps to support me in living in my own apartment and to be successful at work. Without Medicaid, I would have to move back home to live with my parents.”
Recent proposals by the House Energy & Commerce Committee would negatively impact Medicaid by reducing funding, which would significantly affect individuals with disabilities.
These proposals are not reform nor address fraud; they are cuts that would have severe consequences for individuals, such as young adults within our organization, who rely on Medicaid for their health and independence. Our organization strongly opposes these harmful changes, which would lead to reductions in services, eligibility for Medicaid, and
provider payments.
These proposals are cuts to Medicaid, plain and simple. We urge Congress to invest in Medicaid and reject these harmful cuts.
