MADISON—Today, Republicans on the Joint Committee on Finance fell even further behind their deadline to pass a budget on time that makes investments to ensure Wisconsinites can build a better life in every community around the state.

In response, the four Democratic members of the Joint Committee on Finance released the following statement:

“Today, Republicans not only fell far short of Gov. Evers’ proposal on our justice system, they also failed even to begin their work investing in higher education. This is all part of a pattern, their time is up, and they are not equipped to serve the needs of the people in this state.

“As long as they continue to submit to the most extreme ideological wing of their party, there is very little we can do to help them get this done on time in a way that supports the hardworking people of Wisconsin.”
