MADISON, Wisc. — On Tuesday, Brittany Kinser, candidate for DPI Superintendent released the following statement in response to a proposal being circulated for co-sponsorship by Representatives Robert Wittke (R-Racine), Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville) and Senator John Jagler (R-Watertown) to restore high standards to those set by Governor Tony Evers when he served as State Superintendent.

“Restoring high standards is critically important, and I strongly support Reps. Wittke and Novak, and Sen. Jagler’s effort to restore Gov. Evers’ standards in our schools,” Kinser said.

“As a former teacher and principal, I know students rise to the expectations set for them. Lowering standards deprives our kids of the opportunity to be college- or career-ready, and that is unacceptable in Wisconsin.  Our kids deserve more, not less, and I look forward to working with the legislature to pass this proposal,” stated Kinser.
