Milwaukee – The 3rd Annual Future Voters Fest/Festival de Futuros Votantes, an informative fun event to promote voting, will be held August 13 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at La Plazita Parklet, S.16th St. & Forest Home Ave. Event sponsors are: League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County; Muskego Way Forward; La Causa Charter School; Safe & Sound; Cristo Rey High School Admissions Office; Froedtert/MCW’s Southside Family Medicine Residency Program; Milwaukee Turners; WI Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign (WIVEC), and Vote Riders.
Future Voters Fest will provide hands-on, engaging bilingual (Spanish-English) activities for teens, children and their families to learn about the voting process and to promote voting as a key responsibility in supporting our democracy. The event will include mock elections, games and giveaways. School supplies and bike helmets will also be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
“The League of Women Voters is here to help provide voter education to everyone and this includes our youth” stated Eloisa Gómez of the League of Women Voters.
Juan Arevalo, representing Milwaukee Turners, said, “We are committed to uplifting democracy and highlighting the importance of empowering our Milwaukee residents not just during elections but year round. It is of utmost importance that we include the youth in this process and at these events so that they can begin to see firsthand the importance of speaking up on issues that are affecting them.”
In case of rain, the event will be held Tuesday, August 19. For more information, visit www.lwvmilwaukee.org
