CVI is renovating Vets Place Central this year with help from Lemberg Electric.
BROOKFIELD, Wis. (March 11, 2025) – The Center for Veterans Issues (CVI) has long supported veterans in Milwaukee, providing housing, employment assistance, and mental health services to those who served our country. As CVI undertakes a major renovation and expansion of Vets Place Central this year, Lemberg Electric is proud to continue its decade-long partnership by contributing crucial electrical and lighting upgrades to the facility.
This project will make real differences in the lives of our veterans,” said Kyle Witte, President of Lemberg. “By supporting CVI, we’re investing in the people who have given so much for our country.”
IIluminating a New Future for Veterans
CVI’s vision for the renovated and expanded Vets Place Central aims to create a holistic support system for at-risk veterans with services such as career counseling, financial literacy, and health and wellness.
The facility’s new design will emphasize community and camaraderie, with shared spaces such as a library, a game room, and a communal dining area where residents can connect and build supportive relationships. Additionally, an on-site fitness center and green outdoor spaces will promote physical well-being and mental health, ensuring that veterans have access to resources that foster overall stability and success.
The project features 81 private apartments, each with its own bathroom, as well as new amenities like a small gym, a media center, a shared laundry, and a clothing room for those in need.
Working in partnership with Kelly Construction and CVI, Lemberg applied its Design-Build capabilities to help plan the renovation of the current building and add additional new space off the back. Lemberg will provide all electrical wiring, data communications, structured cabling, fire alarms, energy-efficient lighting, power and distribution, and an emergency power generator.
A Commitment to Service
Lemberg’s connection with CVI dates back over ten years, when Tim Scheid, Chief Executive Officer of Lemberg, first noticed CVI’s sign was unlit. What began as a simple act of service, donating time and materials to keep the sign illuminated, has since grown into a deeper commitment to supporting veterans in need. Over the years, Lemberg has continued to donate materials, expertise, and time—even organizing holiday cookouts for residents at Vets Place Central.
“We’re honored to support the CVI mission,” said Scheid. “It’s not just about the work we do; it’s about ensuring veterans have the resources they need to rebuild their lives.”
How the Community Can Help
With construction well underway, CVI is now fundraising for furnishings for the renovated living spaces. Community members and businesses interested in supporting veterans can contribute to CVI’s mission by donating funds or essential household items to help create a comfortable and supportive environment for residents. More information can be found at CVI’s website.
With continued collaboration, Lemberg and CVI are proving that when businesses and community organizations come together, they can create lasting change for those who need it most.
