The claim: “I’m declaring 2025 the ‘Year of the Kid’ in Wisconsin.” — Gov. Tony Evers in his State of the State address.
Reality: It sounds nice, but the reality is just more hollow empty rhetoric from Gov. Evers. Last year’s ‘Year of the Worker’ was a failure — resulting in half of all new jobs coming from the government for most of 2024.
So what does the “Year of the Kid” mean to Gov. Evers? If you listen to his speech it looks like this:
Guaranteed abortion access for expectant mothers, more money for public school teachers’ unions, government bureaucrat control over the lives of children when they’re not in school, more money for state-run child care, a new office for gun control, and more “free” stuff that parents will have to work long hours to pay for. All in all, a big plan to grow the government under the guise of helping children. It’s not working!
In Depth: MacIver’s Bill Osmulski produced a video report on the “Year of the Kid” and how Evers’ proposals reflect a liberal nanny-state utopia that would actually cause far more harm to children.
