Milwaukee, Wisconsin — On Monday, September 1st at 11am working people will leave Zeidler Union Square to march through the streets of downtown Milwaukee sending a clear message to billionaires and union-busters on Workers’ Labor Day: We built this country and we’re taking it back.
This year’s Laborfest parade and festival comes as the AFL-CIO concludes the “It’s Better in a Union: Fighting for Freedom, Fairness and Security” bus tour, which crisscrossed the country, to highlight workers’ fights to organize, win fair contracts, and counteract the impact that reckless policies are having on their lives.
This Workers’ Labor Day, the American people are rooting for workers fighting for what they deserve. Like members of UAW Local 95 on strike from Mercyhealth East Clinic in Janesville ––who are taking on the healthcare system for a fair contract and safe patient care. And the workers at Pathfinders Employee Collective in Milwaukee — seeking to establish a union for increased safety standards, higher wages, and organizational transparency. With 70% of Americans, and nearly 9 out of 10 young people supporting unions, the fight for freedom, fairness and security has never been more popular.
Not only is this a day to stand up and stand together in solidarity, but it’s a day to honor and celebrate the hard-fought victories of organized labor. Thanks to the generosity of local unions and the companies at which they work, Laborfest 2025 is a free day of fun at the lakefront at Henry Maier Festival Park that includes live music for all ages, children’s activities, bingo, wrestling, a classic car show, and Raffle Grand Prize of $5,000.
