The WMC Issues Mobilization Council and Elon Musk’s Building America’s Future are up with new TV ads knocking liberal Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford on crime.

AdImpact has tracked nearly $3.6 million in reservations by the WMC Issues Mobilization Council through March 19. Meanwhile, it’s tracked more than $3.7 million in buys by Building America’s Future through March 19.

Musk’s America PAC, meanwhile, filed a new independent expenditure report with the state today showing it has now plowed $4 million into canvassing, texting and digital ads to back conservative Brad Schimel.

The new WMC ads follow identical scripts, one featuring Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban, the other with Kenosha County Sheriff David Zoerner.

In each version, the sheriffs say they have an urgent message that they can’t keep the public safe when liberal judges refuse to “actually punish violent criminals.” In one version, Zoerner calls Crawford “the worst.”

In each spot, they say she gave four years to a man who raped a 6-year-old, two years to a guy who beat his girlfriend and shot a man, and 90 days to a man who strangled a woman.

“We need judges to prioritize public safety,” Skarban says in the spot featuring him. “Liberal judge Susan Crawford doesn’t. Tell Judge Crawford to stop releasing dangerous criminals.”

The narrator in the new Building America’s Future ad says Crawford let Curtis O’Brien “walk” after two years in prison for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl multiple times when she could’ve given him 60 years.

The narrator says the victim “lives with the scars forever” while Crawford allowed O’Brien to live down the street from a school.

“That was Crawford’s choice,” the narrator says. “Another dangerous decision from Susan Crawford, putting all our kids at risk. She’s just wrong for Wisconsin.”
