Policy and Advocacy Organization Launches to Elevate Northern Wisconsin’s Voice in Statewide Policy.

WISCONSIN — Northwoods Policy Network (NPN), a newly established policy and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening Northern Wisconsin, has officially launched today, December 8th, 2025. Building on the momentum of its early social media rollout and introductory video released in September, the organization now moves into full operation with a mission centered on policy innovation, community engagement, and economic vitality across the region.

As a registered 501(c)(3), Northwoods Policy Network aims to amplify the voice of the region while educating leaders and job creators about opportunities and challenges unique to rural communities. NPN’s work will include producing unique research, developing bold and targeted policies, sharing stories of success and challenge, and elevating the voices of residents who believe in the potential of the region. The organization is eager to begin bringing new ideas and removing barriers that have limited the potential of the region.

Co-founders Paul Schecklman, Ben Dryden, and Adam Jarchow say the group was formed out of a shared belief that Northern Wisconsin deserves a seat at the table in statewide discussions about growth, investment, and the future of Wisconsin’s economy.

Schecklman, who serves as Executive Director, said the organization is built around pride, purpose, and possibility.

“NPN is about putting the Northwoods first again,” he said. “For too long, major decisions, resources, and opportunities have been concentrated in other parts of the state. We’re here to change that narrative — to show that the North is not just a place to visit, but a place to build a career, raise a family, and invest in long-term success.”

The group will focus on a wide range of policy areas that shape the region’s future, including energy development, manufacturing, conservation, reindustrialization, tax reform, local governance, national security, education, and workforce retention. NPN is specifically committed to keeping young talent in the Northwoods by highlighting solutions that make staying — and thriving — more accessible.

With its official launch, Northwoods Policy Network is now expanding outreach efforts and actively encouraging residents, business owners, students, and community leaders to get involved. Opportunities will include sharing personal stories, participating in discussions, attending upcoming events, and applying for new internship and fellowship programs designed for college students and young professionals.

Northwoods Policy Network can be found online at NorthwoodsPolicy.org, as well as on FacebookInstagramYouTube, and X. The organization’s launch video, which outlines its goals and vision for the region, remains available for viewing across all platforms.

Looking ahead, NPN says its mission is bigger than policy alone — it is about building momentum and restoring confidence in what the Northwoods can achieve. By connecting people, ideas, and opportunities, the organization hopes to help shape a future where Northern Wisconsin is not only heard, but leading.
