Eight Scholars from Dane County’s One City Schools will help celebrate the start of Black History Month for members of the Wisconsin State Legislature. The Legislative Black Caucus, which includes members of both the State Senate and Assembly, is holding a kick-off celebration for Black History Month on Tuesday, February 4th at the State Capitol. The One City Scholars will start the event demonstrating their African drumming talents at 11:45 a.m.
“It’s an incredible honor for our One City Scholars, their families, and our community to help launch this important celebration at the Wisconsin State Capitol,” One City Schools Founder and CEO Kaleem Caire said. “Showcasing the talent of these Scholars really calls attention to the opportunity for what our tomorrows could be as a city, state and country. Doing so while recognizing the journey that got us as a people, as a community to this juncture, is so important given this moment in our nation’s history,” Caire added.
