Los Angeles, CA—In his first joint address to Congress since inciting a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, Donald Trump delivered exactly what we expected: a self-serving, lie-filled circus act straight out of his campaign rallies.
From claiming Biden left him with “an economic catastrophe” while the stock market tanks under his tariffs, to bragging about “bringing back free speech” while banning AP reporters from the Oval Office to make room for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boyfriend to cosplay as a journalist, Trump wasted two hours of America’s time stroking his own ego in front of a room full of Republican sycophants.
Progress Action Fund founder Joe Jacobson didn’t hold back:
“This was nothing more than a propaganda stunt on the grandest scale. Trump is completely detached from reality. Because of him, millions of Americans are worse off than they were a month ago, the stock market is in free fall, and his tariffs are about to rip $2,000 straight out of struggling families’ pockets. People need real leadership—not a two-hour rant.”
Jacobson also called on Congressional Democrats to step up and fight back:
“The American people don’t need Democrats in matching outfits—they need Democrats who will go on the offensive. Trump is out here wrecking the economy, and Republicans are cheering him on. It’s time to stop playing defense and start making them pay for it.”
