(WASHINGTON, DC) – Protect Our Jobs, an eight-figure campaign defending clean energy workers and local economies across the country, today announced a new ad buy calling out Rep. Van Orden’s (WI-03) vote for the Republican Tax Law, which will crater Wisconsin’s clean energy production and lead to surging electricity costs.
The ad, titled “To The Moon,” begins airing tomorrow on TV and cable in the La Crosse–Wausau media market and on digital platforms districtwide. The ad directly connects Van Orden’s vote for the Republicans’ budget law to the skyrocketing electricity costs Wisconsin families will see on their monthly bills.
“He promised to bring down our costs, but Congressman Derrick Van Orden just voted to make our electric rates skyrocket. His plan removes clean energy from the electric grid, creating an energy shortage. So now the power companies are saying, ‘we’re going to force electricity prices to the moon,’” says the narrator in the ad. “So the next time you open your electricity bill and see a bigger number, remember that Congressman Van Orden’s plan made our rates go up.”
Van Orden’s Rate Hike will create an energy shortage, sending electricity costs through the roof: Americans are already seeing their utility costs skyrocket, and according to several studies, Republicans’ repeal of clean energy investments could increase the average family’s energy bill by $110 next year and as much as $400 per year by 2035.
