Milwaukee, WI – Jason Rae was elected to a third term as Secretary of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during the organization’s recent Winter Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland, winning with 338.5 votes to 68.5 votes. Receiving nearly 83% of the vote, Rae was the highest vote getter of any candidate for DNC officer during the recent officer elections.
“Serving as DNC Secretary has been the greatest honor of my life. I’ve worked every day to strengthen our processes, make our work more transparent, and keep our DNC members informed and empowered,” said Jason Rae. “For example, when we faced the enormous task of replacing our nominee this summer, I am especially proud of the system my Office built—working closely with the convention team and state parties—to ensure every delegate could nominate and vote in a way that was fair, clear, and accessible.”
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you to our DNC members for their support. I’m ready to keep serving the DNC each and every day as we work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot,” added Rae.
Rae was first elected as DNC Secretary in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021 as a part of President Biden’s recommended slate of officers. He has since focused on increasing transparency, strengthening party processes, and ensuring that DNC members have the tools and information needed to grow the party in every state and territory. During his tenure, he has played a pivotal role in modernizing party communications, supporting delegate certification and engagement around the convention, and ensuring seamless operations for the DNC’s internal governance. He is most frequently recognized as the individual who led two historic roll calls – one virtual during the 2020 National Convention and one a dance party in 2024.
A lifelong Democrat, Rae was first elected to represent Wisconsin on the DNC at just 17 years old, making him the youngest person ever elected to the body. Over the years, he has served as Chair of the DNC Youth Council, a member of the DNC Credentials Committee, and currently on the DNC’s Executive Committee and Rules & Bylaws Committee. In addition to his role as DNC Secretary, Rae serves as President & CEO of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and is a partner at the Milwaukee-based public affairs firm Nation Consulting. He lives in Glendale, Wisconsin, with his husband, Phillip Bailey.
