The Wisconsin State Assembly honored First Responders from across the state today in a ceremony at the State Capitol.
Waukesha Police Officer Jose Arellano was selected as the 2025 First Responder of the Year for the 82nd Assembly District. Sergeant Joshua Tyndall nominated Arellano for his outstanding service, dedication, and compassion in serving the Waukesha community over his 15-year career with the Waukesha Police Department.
“Officer Arellano exemplifies the department’s mission to serve with integrity, honor, and courage,” said State Rep. Scott Allen (R-Waukesha), who selected Arellano for the award. “His commitment to going above and beyond has made him a respected leader among his peers.”
As one of the department’s few Spanish-speaking officers, Officer Arellano provides critical support to the community and assists other agencies with mutual aid requests, demonstrating his eagerness to serve. His positive attitude and teamwork make him an invaluable asset to the department.
“Officer Arellano’s humility, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to our community make him a true role model,” said Rep. Allen. “The 82nd Assembly District extends its heartfelt congratulations and gratitude for Officer Arellano’s outstanding contributions to the safety and well-being of the people of Waukesha.”
