MADISON, Wis – Today, Representative Clinton Anderson and Legislative Democrats, introduced legislation, LRB-5640, that increases funding for essential programs supporting job stability, promoting local farmers, and providing food accessibility. Financial support for Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin and Something Special for Wisconsin, shows the importance of local producers and keeping dollars in Wisconsin.

This bill increases funding by $300,000 for Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grants, a program to fund projects designed to increase agricultural sales. In addition, this bill increases DATCP funding for advertising and promoting their “Something Special from Wisconsin” slogan, mark and logo by $200,000 each year.

“This bill expands Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grants that make it easier for farmers to sell to local markets and feed Wisconsinites first, rather than have to navigate the unpredictable markets under Trump Administration’s tariffs,” Representative Anderson said. “The bill also increases funding for the Something Special from Wisconsin program so that visitors to Wisconsin know they’re supporting our local producers. These are the kinds of things we should be doing in the Legislature, and it will be a clear priority after the Democrats take the majority next year.”
