Madison – Yesterday, Representative Billings worked with the Wisconsin Historical Society to feature a display of select items from the historical society’s Hmong Heritage exhibit in the Capitol Rotunda. This display commemorated 50 years of Hmong people in Wisconsin. Representative Billings released the following statement:

“The Hmong people have resided in our state for half a century and I am proud to celebrate their achievements, culture, and resilience in our state Capitol. This coincided with votes in the Assembly on resolutions honoring the Hmong population and recognizing Hmong veterans and my Hometown Hero, NaoHoua “Tony” Yang, an educator and local Hmong community leader.”

“The Hmong community has made invaluable contributions to the state’s cultural, economic, and social fabric. The historical society’s display and the resolutions honoring Hmong heritage, culture, and contributions to our state serve as a testament to the Hmong people’s enduring legacy and the state’s commitment to recognizing and honoring their history. I am proud to be a member of the Wisconsin Historical Society Board of Curators and this was a wonderful demonstration of the importance of the historical society’s mission. I am incredibly grateful for the work of staff with the historical society and their community curators who made it possible for us to recognize this landmark together.”
