Madison – Last night, Governor Tony Evers delivered his annual State of the State Address in the State Assembly Chamber. Rep. Lindee Brill (R-Sheboygan Falls) attended the speech for the first time as a state legislator. The representative made the following comments in response to the speech:
“As I sat through last night’s State of the State speech delivered by Governor Evers, I could not help but be amazed by the bold shamelessness that guides our governor’s thinking. He began his speech by celebrating the new “fair maps” which disproportionately benefit his own party and were instituted only following the undemocratic overreach by the State Supreme Court. He then turned to taking credit for Wisconsin’s lower tax burden, a feat accomplished by the Republican Legislature in spite of the Governor’s ideology, not because of it.”
“Additionally, he expressed great concern that only 12 percent of a child’s life is spent on school instruction time, insisting that the state further involve itself in the rest of our kids’ lives – which ought to be left to them and their families. The governor’s focus on continuing the destruction of the Wisconsin family was evidenced when he once again declared his undying support for abortion and celebration of radical gender and sexual ideologies.”
“It was clear to all rational observers in the Assembly Chamber last evening that Governor Evers is far more interested in playing politics and instituting Leftist principles than addressing the business of the people of our state. It is immensely frustrating to listen to him utter his pious pleas for bipartisanship while standing firm in his corner assailing the Republican Legislature and stealing credit for the hard- earned efforts Republicans have undertaken to deliver for Wisconsin.”
The representative’s office is located in Room 409 North at the Wisconsin State Capitol. She may be reached at (608) 237-9127 or by email at Rep.Brill@legis.wisconsin.gov.
