MADISON, Wis. — Rep. Karen DeSanto (D-Baraboo) was sworn in today at the State Capitol as the State Representative for the 40th Assembly District. Rep. DeSanto will serve on the following committees during the 2025-2026 legislative session: Assembly Committee on Rural Development and Assembly Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention.

Following the ceremony, Rep. DeSanto released the following statement:

“It is an incredible privilege to be sworn in as the next state representative for the 40th Assembly District. I am honored to be able to serve our neighbors, and I am thankful for the trust our communities have placed in me to be their voice in Madison.

“I am excited to bring my first-hand understanding of the challenges our area faces and my experience bringing people together to tackle tough problems and find solutions. Together, I know that we can make Wisconsin the best place for families to live, work, and play.

“I am ready to get to work this session to find commonsense solutions to support working families and help our kids thrive. Alongside my Democratic colleagues we will promote a visionary, inclusive policy agenda and do everything we can to advance policy that allows people across our state to thrive.

“I am truly honored to be in this work.”
