The Wisconsin State Assembly met for debate today and to honor first responders from all across the state for their service and sacrifice to their communities. Rep. Ben DeSmidt honored Lieutenant Matthew Stahl of the Kenosha Fire Department.
Representative Ben DeSmidt (D—Kenosha) shared the following statement:
“It was a really special day here at the Capitol. First responders from all across the state were here, and we had the opportunity to honor their heroic actions, dedication, and service to their communities. I was especially proud to honor Lt. Stahl from the Kenosha Fire Department. He’s certainly someone who leads by example by always putting his crew and community first. Lt. Stahl’s leadership and commitment to excellence truly represent exactly what every community hopes for in its first responders.
In regards to the Assembly floor debate, Rep. DeSmidt said:
“We’ve only got about three weeks of scheduled floor debate left before the end of the year. I’m hoping the majority party uses the time left to focus on issues that actually matter to working families, like lowering the cost of childcare and tackling the rising cost of healthcare.
“I think Wisconsinites deserve to see meaningful action that makes everyday life a little more affordable before the new year, not excuses and empty promises.”
