This week the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety passed legislation to increase penalties for, and thereby deter theft of copper wiring. Rep. Doyle had the following to say:
“America’s communications networks are increasingly becoming a vital component of daily life. From public safety to national security, education, work, and so much more, our communications infrastructure plays a critical role in our society. Assembly Bill 242 is a commonsense proposal that simply works to deter vandalism and theft of these critical pieces of infrastructure. These days it feels rare that the legislature is able to set aside our differences and just focus on improving the lives of Wisconsinites. It’s nice to see this simple bipartisan bill enjoy broad support. It now heads to the full Assembly, where I look forward to voting for its final passage.”
