This week the Department of Transportation notified legislators and local government officials of their plan to move forward with an alternative construction plan for replacing bridges on Highway 35 between Holmen and Trempealeau. Representative Doyle had the following to say:
“The initial plan for construction on Highway 35 created several concerns both for emergency response services and the economic health of our communities. I expressed these concerns to Department of Transportation staff and the Governor’s office through several calls, letters, and meetings over the past several months. Now, DOT Confirmed to my office that they applied this feedback and analysis to the range of alternatives and determined the WisDOT preferred alternative will maintain traffic through the work zone during construction (therefore there will be no extended roadway closure or detour occurring on WIS 35).
Our community’s safety and economic success are worth protecting. I’m glad to see the Department of Transportation agrees that these concerns are worth mitigating, and I want to thank them for making this change.”
