Today, Governor Tony Evers announced that he will not seek re-election in 2026. Representative Steve Doyle had the following to say:
“Governor Evers has been a true public servant in every sense of the phrase. Regardless of the challenge he faced on any given day; he rolled up his sleeves, got to work, and got the job done. Instead of succumbing to politics as usual, or letting gridlock win, Governor Evers delivered results. Over the course of his time in office he has enacted over $12 billion in tax cuts, he has made healthcare more affordable, he’s increased education funding every year, and he’s fixing the roads.
The Governor has been a friend and ally to the Coulee region, and what’s more, he’s been a friend and ally to me. I want to thank Governor Evers for his leadership and commitment to the state, and I look forward to continuing to work with him over the next 17 months.”
