Madison, WI – On Thursday, July 3, 2025, Governor Tony Evers vetoed a provision that was intended to provide critical funding for safety enhancements along County Hwy SS and the Jefferson County line on I-94 in Waukesha County.

County Executive Paul Farrow released a statement highlighting recent crash data that shows this 12.5-mile corridor has a higher rate of fatal crashes than any other interstate project currently being considered for state funding.

“I agree wholeheartedly with the County Executive that investing in safer road infrastructure is necessary for our community, and I am greatly disappointed to hear that Governor Evers vetoed this life-saving measure for Waukesha County residents,” said Rep. Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield).

“These investments should have been made years ago, and it is frustrating to hear that the improvements will be yet again delayed by our executive branch.”
