MADISON – This morning, Wisconsin Legislative Democrats introduced the “Build a Stronger Wisconsin” package, a series of four labor bills designed to strengthen the workforce and bolster our state’s economy. The package includes LRB-0711, authored by Representative Joan Fitzgerald (D-Fort Atkinson) and Senator Jeff Smith (D-Brunswick), that would repeal the ban on project labor agreements for public construction projects. Following today’s press conference, Rep. Fitzgerald released the following statement:

“I am so proud to introduce legislation that puts Wisconsin’s workers and our economy first. Repealing the ban on Project Labor Agreements, or PLAs, gives power to local and state governments to utilize a tool that would streamline the building process for public construction projects.

“When local and state governments can use public PLAs, work gets done on time and on budget. Taxpayers deserve relief, and repealing this ban ensures safe, high-quality work that keeps our workers local and our economy strong.”
