MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Representative Russell Goodwin made the following statement after receiving news regarding the Milwaukee apartment fire.
“My heart is with the families and businesses impacted by the devastating fire on 27th Street.
When one part of Milwaukee hurts, all of Wisconsin feels the pain. As a State Representative and lifelong member of the Milwaukee community, I stand in solidarity with Rep. Margaret Arney and Sen. LaTonya Johnson, other legislative colleagues, and local leaders in supporting recovery efforts. My prayers are with those displaced, and I want the public to know that we are not only watching—we care, and we are committed to helping however we can.
There are resources you can access now to get assistance in these difficult times. The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families offers an Emergency Assistance Program. The City of Milwaukee offers many emergency resources that can be found on their website. Additionally, the Salvation Army employs Emergency Services Specialists to help in times of need. Finally, the Red Cross provides resources to many Wisconsinites in emergencies that are outlined here.
Let this moment remind us that compassion and unity are the cornerstones of progress. We are Wisconsin Strong, and together, we will rise from this.”
