Madison, WI – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) had several of his bills pass the Assembly floor earlier today, including measures to support search and rescue K9 teams and to expand scholarship opportunities for students in small and rural schools across Wisconsin.
On the Assembly Bills 238 and 240, which supports search and rescue K9s and their handlers, Rep. Green issued the following statement:
“Earlier this session, we passed AB 239 to protect search-and-rescue K9s from harassment and harm. This bill builds on that work by giving K9 handlers a sales-tax exemption for essential equipment and ensuring consistent lodging access for teams traveling in Wisconsin. These volunteers play a critical role in keeping our communities safe. It’s time we give them the recognition and support they deserve.”
On Senate Bill 210, which expands scholarship opportunities for Wisconsin students—particularly those in smaller and rural school districts, Rep. Green issued the following statement:
“This bill guarantees that students in small high schools have the same clear path to academic excellence scholarships as those in larger schools. By eliminating the nomination requirement for schools under 80 students and guaranteeing one scholarship per school, it creates a fair, consistent, merit-based process. This change helps keep high-achieving students in Wisconsin and strengthen our future workforce.”
Rep. Green also supported measures to improve voter understanding of ballot referendums and strengthen election integrity:
- Assembly Bill 207 – Ensures every state referendum includes a clear, plain-language explanation of the proposed constitutional amendment and what a “yes” or “no” vote would mean.
- Assembly Bill 385 – Prohibits any PAC, conduit, or political party from accepting online contributions unless the credit card’s verification code and a U.S. billing address are provided.
- Assembly Bill 595 – Strengthens Wisconsin’s election system by ensuring accurate voter rolls, enforcing citizenship requirements, addressing voter complaints, and keeping voter list access affordable.
