MADISON, WI – State Representative Nate Gustafson, Chair of the Wisconsin State Assembly Committee on Science, Technology, and AI, today applauded President Donald J. Trump’s release of the America’s AI Action Plan, calling it a bold, common-sense blueprint to keep the U.S. ahead of China and put American workers first.
“President Trump understands that AI is the next frontier in global competition, and he’s making sure America leads from the front,” said Rep. Gustafson. “This plan cuts red tape, boosts real investment, and puts power back in the hands of states, workers, and the private sector, not federal bureaucrats.”
Key highlights of the Trump Administration’s AI Action Plan welcomed by Rep. Gustafson include:
- Fast-tracking infrastructure and permitting approvals for broadband, data centers, and domestic chip manufacturing. This is critical to Wisconsin’s rural and industrial economy.
- Tax credits and training incentives for employers who upskill their workforce, complementing Wisconsin’s investment in apprenticeships, tech colleges, and STEM programs.
- Action against deepfakes and AI misuse, protecting families, schools, and elections from synthetic content threats.
“This plan is about more freedom, more innovation, and more jobs. That’s what we need right now in Wisconsin and across the country,” Gustafson said.
He also praised the Administration’s focus on removing outdated regulations and streamlining environmental reviews, “President Trump is doing what he does best, getting government out of the way so America can win. Wisconsin stands ready to lead with this kind of smart, America-first approach to AI.”
As chair of the Assembly Committee on Science, Technology, and AI, Rep. Gustafson looks forward to advancing legislation this session that aligns with the President’s goals and ensures Wisconsin continues to be a national leader in responsible AI development.
