MADISON, Wis. –  Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Housing Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) recently announced recipients of the 2025 Housing Grant Program. This grant program is funded by $2 million from WHEDA reserves and can be used to fund improvements such as ensuring ADA compliance, energy efficiency, and structural upgrades. The grants will also create or improve over 1500 beds and housing units across the state. Several projects in the 16th Assembly Districts were awarded funds from this program including the Milwaukee County Housing Services ($50,000 -27 beds), Project RETURN Inc. ($22,143 – 12 beds), and Sojourner Foundation, Inc. ($50,000 – 53 beds). In response, State Representative Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement:

“I’d like to thank Governor Evers and WHEDA for their work on this program. These funds will make a meaningful impact in creating housing and beds for people in need. The Milwaukee County Housing Services, Project RETURN, and the Sojourner Foundation have been doing important work in our communities, and these grants will undoubtedly enhance that work. These investments will not only create much-needed housing but will also drive economic development by creating construction jobs and giving individuals support to enhance and grow other aspects of their lives. I look forward to seeing the results of these grants and future expansion of this program. “
