MADISON, Wis. – Today, Assembly Assistant Democratic Leader Representative Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee) honored the 16th Assembly District First Responder of the Year, Milwaukee Firefighter Trevor Pinkalla. On this, Representative Haywood released the following statement:
“Mr. Pinkalla’s service to the Milwaukee Fire Department has been invaluable to our community. It was an honor to recognize his service on the Assembly floor today, and to highlight his contributions to the City of Milwaukee.”
“On February 24th 2024, Mr. Pinkalla responded to a water rescue near South Water Street. At the scene, Mr. Pinkalla took swift action at extreme personal risk to save the life of one of our neighbors. By diving into the icy water and securing the victim, he showed courage in the face of danger, and dedication to his duty as a City of Milwaukee Firefighter.”
“In addition to this selfless action, Mr. Pinkalla co-created the Rescue Ring Buoy Program, which provides lifesaving equipment and water safety education to neighbors across Milwaukee. He also is a valued member of the Dive Rescue, Hazmat and Arson Investigation teams.”
“In recognition of October as First Responder Appreciation Month, it is important to remember the heroes who make our community safe for all.”
