MADISON, WI – Today the State Assembly voted to pass Assembly Bill 201 “Bradyn’s Law”. This legislation was inspired by the tragic death of DC Everest High School student Bradyn Bohn, who took his own life after being targeted by an organized sexual extortion ring. Bradyn’s Law establishes sexual extortion as a new crime, and imposes severe penalties including up to a 60-year sentence if the extortion results in the death of the victim.  Representative Brent Jacobson (R – Mosinee) released the following statement:

Today, Wisconsin sent a clear message to the despicable predators trying to exploit and harm our children – stay out of Wisconsin,” said Rep. Jacobson. “My colleagues and I don’t have the power to bring Bradyn back. However, today’s vote is a major step towards protecting our children from this evil, and making sure no other family has to grieve for a son or daughter robbed from them by sextortion.”

Bradyn’s Law passed the Assembly with an unopposed voice vote. Rep. Jacobson expressed his gratitude for the bipartisan support for this legislation.

“It’s easy to focus only on the division and partisanship here in Madison,” said Rep. Jacobson. “Today’s vote shows that there are still plenty of issues where my fellow legislators and I can put aside our differences and do what’s best for the people of Wisconsin. I am hopeful that we will continue to see bipartisan support for this bill in the Senate, and that Governor Evers will sign Bradyn’s Law into statute.”
