MADISON – In response to Legislative Republicans stripping 612 items from the 2025-27 State Biennial Budget, Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) issued the following statement:

“Yesterday, the Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee cut funding for our schools, cut childcare funding, and voted against saving money with Medicaid expansion. In total, over 600 items have been removed from the Governor’s budget. Over the past several months I have listened to folks share the importance of these programs and ask that they be passed.

“These cuts disregard the priorities of our community.

“The removal of the over 600 budget items makes it clear what the Joint Finance Committee Republicans’ priorities are, and it’s not addressing the needs of our community. We need to continue to make sure they know Wisconsin needs a budget that reflects our priorities. I encourage you to continue to contact me and contact the members of the Joint Committee on Finance to make your concerns known.”
