MADISON – Today, Representative Alex Joers (D–Waunakee) joined Chef Evan Dannells of Main Street Alliance and Peng Her of the Hmong Institute on a panel to discuss the importance of sustained investment in child care for Wisconsin families. Moderated by Daithi Wolfe of Kids Forward, the panel focused on the current unaffordability and inaccessibility of child care for working families across the state. Representative Joers released the following statement:
“In joining dads from across Wisconsin on today’s panel, the message is clear: having access to affordable child care is crucial and providing sustained funding for early childhood education is the best return on investment we can offer our state.
“The ages of 0-5 are the most important for childhood development, making early childhood education a valuable resource in the future success of Wisconsin’s kids. Immediate state funding is required to support and expand access to child care for all Wisconsinites. We are advocating for sustained investment in our child care industry to provide the vital support our families need.”
