MADISON – This morning, Legislative Democrats unveiled the Lowering Costs and Improving Lives Bill Package. This package includes proposals aimed at increasing student access to nutritious meals, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and expanding the homestead tax credit. Representative Alex Joers (D-Waunakee), a sponsor of the package, released the following statement:

“I am excited to join my colleagues today in introducing proposals that focus on improving the wellbeing of Wisconsinites. This legislation sends a clear message: Democrats are ready to get to work helping the people.

“We are a week into the new legislative session and already my Republican colleagues have proven that they’re more focused on restricting your freedoms than tangibly improving the lives of Wisconsinites. If the beginning of the session is an opportunity to set the tone for the next two years, the bill package we released today demonstrates that Democrats are looking out for your family budget.

“There are so many Wisconsinites who are struggling. We need to take immediate steps to make sure they have some breathing room in their budget. These proposals will reduce grocery bills, drive down the price of medication, and provide property tax relief.

“It’s changes like these that have a strong impact on the most pressing issues in our communities. As the session continues, I look forward to continuing to advocate for the policies that make your life easier.”
