Madison – The man with the nicknames of “Quadzilla,” “The Quadfather,” and “The Mayor of Door County” is adding a new one. He’s now a “Hometown Hero.”

On Tuesday, the Wisconsin State Assembly honored former Green Bay Packer running back and “Mayor of Door County,” AJ Dillon, as a Hometown Hero for his work in the community. Dillon was nominated for the award by Representative Joel Kitchens. Representative Kitchens says AJ, and his wife Gabrielle, are devoted to Door County.

“Around the NFL, AJ Dillon is known as ‘Quadzilla,’ but in Door County, we call him ‘The Mayor,’” Kitchens said, “The Mayor of Door County doesn’t just promote our area, he makes a huge difference in our communities.”

Dillon and his wife Gabrielle launched the Dillon Family Foundation in July of 2024 to target food insecurity and to support youth. Their “Carry for a Cause” initiative delivered 1,400 backpacks filled with food for children and families in need throughout Door County and Green Bay. AJ has spent countless hours supporting the Boys and Girls Club of the Bay and Lakes Region.

“I am honored to nominate AJ Dillon as a Hometown Hero,” Kitchens said, “At a time when so many of the people our kids idolize end up letting them down, AJ is a person every parent would be happy to have their kids emulate.”

The Hometown Heroes program seeks to identify and recognize individuals from around the state who give of themselves to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of those around them.

Representative Kitchens represents Door, Kewaunee, and parts of Brown County.
