(Madison) – Today in the Assembly, Republicans passed legislation preventing men from competing in girls’ sports and using girls’ locker rooms. Additionally, legislation passed that bans sex-change surgery and puberty blockers being provided to children.

“Commonsense and sanity prevailed today in the Legislature,” said Rep. Krug. “It’s a little bit shocking that we need to pass legislation protecting girls’ sports and girls’ locker rooms. Those who demand that girls and women simply accept men into their athletic competitions and their private spaces are wrong.”

The legislation passed today includes:

 AB 100 – mandates that athletic sports and teams operated by public and private choice schools are designated between male and female. It also prohibits males from utilizing female locker-room and changing areas.

 AB 102 – Requires the UW-System and technical college institutions designate their athletic teams as male and female. It prohibits males from playing/participating in female athletics and utilizing female locker-room and changing areas.

 AB 103 – Prohibits K-12 school staff from using and other name or pronouns that are different than the students biological sex without approval from their parents.

 AB 104 – Prohibits gender-transition surgeries or puberty blocking drugs from being provided to children.

“The vast majority of the public rightly believes that children should not be provided puberty-blocking drugs or mutilated with gender re-assignment surgery,” added Rep. Krug. “Protecting kids from these dangerous and life-altering procedures is not just the right thing to do. It is common sense.”
