(Madison) – The Assembly passed bipartisan legislation to protect more affordable healthcare options during their latest floor session today in Madison.
“Access to quality and affordable healthcare options are crucial for those here in the 72nd Assembly District and across Wisconsin,” said Rep. Krug. “Today, we helped prevent the heavy hand of government over-regulation from hurting family budgets. This legislation protects Direct Primary Care, ensuring access to this important cost-saving healthcare option for Wisconsinites.”
Direct Primary Care is an arrangement where an individual receives their healthcare on a subscription or direct payment basis with their provider. It does not go through the traditional health insurance process. By reducing administrative and other over-head costs, this can help reduce the overall price-point for the patient for many services. The legislation passed in the Assembly today, clarifies that Direct Primary Care is not classified as “insurance”, which protects it from unnecessary red-tape from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance.
