MADISON, Wis. – Today, Chairman Thomas Fowler of the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin gave the 2025 State of the Tribes address in the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Following the State of the Tribes address, Rep. McCarville released the following statement:

“It was a great honor to hear from Chairman Thomas Fowler today. As we take the time to nurture the partnership between the state government and the state’s Tribal Nations, we must continue to recognize the amazing contributions and impacts they have had and continue to have in our state.

“We need to acknowledge the events of our past, as well as the policies in place that affect our present. Today we make strides in strengthening our bond with our Tribal Nations and I am thankful that some of the bills taken up in today’s session, will benefit our Wisconsin Tribes. The bipartisanship shown in these bills gives me hope that we can continue to not only work with our Tribal neighbors but also across the aisle.

“I’m so glad that Governor Evers has always made room for investing in our Tribal Nations. As a state we must help raise the voices of our Tribal Nations and I was glad to listen to those voices today.”
