Madison, WI — Last week, Governor Tony Evers signed several bipartisan bills into law, nine of which Representative Miresse Co-Authored or Co-Sponsored.
Some of the newly signed laws include:
- Act 17 – Adjusts the scope of Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurses by allowing them to provide care like a doctor would to help ensure small-town healthcare providers have the staff they need to deliver quality and timely care.
- Act 21 – Eliminates the outdated income cap that limited caregiver support for families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or similar illnesses.
- Act 22 – Requires hospitals to obtain a patient’s permission before performing a pelvic exam while under general anesthesia.
- Act 28 – Increases protections for animals serving alongside our fire departments and law enforcement agencies.
After the bill signings, Rep. Miresse released the following statement:
“These new laws are examples of how policymaking should work — reaching across the aisle to solve real problems, working through disagreements with dialogue, and finding compromise that benefits the people of Wisconsin. It is refreshing to see the process work.”
“I hope the success of these bills will encourage majority leadership to give hearings to the numerous bipartisan bills currently stalled in committee. These bills clearly demonstrate that with open dialogue we can get things done for the people of Wisconsin”
