MADISON, Wis. – Representative Miresse (D-Stevens Point) released the following statement after floor session.

“Today on the floor we passed the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Modernization Act in the Assembly. This legislation has been a work in progress for a nearly a decade here in the capitol, and I am proud to be a co-sponsor. This bill will help address the nursing shortages across Wisconsin, especially in rural areas, by eliminating barriers to the delivery of care, modernizing statutory language to better reflect APRN responsibilities, and establishing oversight to ensure high standards of care.

“While the work we did today was important, there is much more still to do. We must continue working to pass a budget that lowers costs for working families, adequately funds our public schools, and invests in our child care economy.

“I look forward to doing this work and hope my Republican colleagues will return to the negotiating table so we can pass a bipartisan budget for all Wisconsinites.
