MADISON, Wis. – Yesterday, the Wisconsin Supreme court, in a 5-2 decision, affirmed Wisconsin’s Spills Law, key to enforcing the cleanup and remediation of hazardous chemicals like PFAS.
Representative Miresse (D-Stevens Point) released the following statement in response to the ruling:
“Yesterday’s decision ensures that we can hold polluters accountable and require them to take responsibility for cleaning up the harmful contaminants they’ve released into our air, water, and soil. Big business in Wisconsin was reminded of a rule we all learned as kids: if you made the mess, you clean it up. The Wisconsin Supreme court delivered that long awaited reminder yesterday.”
