MADISON, Wis. — Today, Representative Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) and Legislative Democrats introduced the “Forward on Climate” bill package, designed to support the development of a resilient, sustainable, and equitable economy in Wisconsin. As part of the package, Rep. Neubauer authored bills to create the Wisconsin Climate Corps program and invest in a Green Jobs Training Grant program. Rep. Neubauer released the following statement:
“Our planet is changing. Human activity is affecting weather patterns, growing seasons, and our economy. We’re already feeling it in Wisconsin, from stronger storms to rising costs for weatherization, and it’s time for us to act.
“I’m proud to author legislation to create the Wisconsin Climate Corps and to provide training grants for green jobs—two important steps we can take to support our economy and help people find good-paying, sustainable work. From strengthening flood resilience, to planting community gardens, to restoring outdoor spaces, investing in green jobs not only helps working families and communities, but our whole state.
“Our lives, and every generation from here on out, will be affected by climate change. That’s why we need to take action now to secure our shared future and build a resilient economy and state.”
