MADISON, Wis. — On Thursday, October 9th, Legislative Democrats introduced legislation that will help students in every zip code have the opportunity to get a degree at a price they can afford, including a bill to extend Bucky’s Tuition Promise to campuses across the state.  Following the announcement, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement:

“Our colleges and universities are the backbone of our local economies, helping students get the skills they need to join Wisconsin’s workforce. I’ve seen firsthand how UW-Parkside and Gateway Technical College help students and families in my district enter the middle class and build a strong foundation for their careers.

“But right now, the chaos Trump is causing across the federal government threatens our universities and technical colleges. His actions are driving up costs and putting the futures of our students and their contributions to our workforce at risk.

“That’s why we’re taking action to make higher education more accessible and attainable for Wisconsin’s students. Our bills will help students succeed and complete their degree, as well as making tuition more affordable for families who need it. Higher education should be attainable for every family in Wisconsin, and this package will help make that a reality.”
