MADISON, Wis. — Today, Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced more than $159 million has been allocated to municipalities through the Lead Service Line Replacement Program, including $40 million specifically for the City of Racine.

Following the announcement, Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement:

“This is transformative news for the City of Racine.

“For years, I’ve advocated for funding to replace our community’s outdated lead service lines and ensure that the water coming from our taps is safe. I’m thrilled that Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will be sending the City of Racine $40 million to continue replacing lead pipes in our community.

“Access to clean, safe drinking water is essential, especially for young children. Today, we’re one step closer to lead-free water in our city thanks to all of those who have been pushing to bring these much needed funds to Racine.”
