MADISON – Representative Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville) was joined at the State Capitol by Mount Horeb Police Officer and current Mount Horeb School District Resource Officer Rosemeyer where he was honored during an Assembly Floor Session as the First Responder Award winner.

Officer Rosemeyer was joined by his wife Lindsay, and daughters Aviana and Lucy as well his colleagues at the Mount Horeb Police Department, and Mount Horeb School district, including Superintendent Steve Salerno, Director of School Services Brian Johnson, High School Principal Cody Lundquist, and Middle School Principal Paul Christiansen.

Officer Rosemeyer was selected by Rep. Novak for his actions during an active shooter incident at Mount Horeb Middle School last year. Officer Rosemeyer’s actions that day saved countless lives of students and staff at the school.

“Officer Rosemeyer is a true hero, said Novak. “His actions last May, undoubtedly saved the lives of countless students and staff members. His actions under extreme pressure and danger illustrated his composure, leadership, and dedication to school safety. It was my privilege to host him and his family at the Capitol to honor him for his bravery and dedication to school safety.”

Each legislative session, First Responders from around Wisconsin are selected to be honored by their Assembly Representative as the District First Responder Award winner during an Assembly Floor Session.

Officer Rosemeyer joins the late Al Michek of Highland, Ron Weigel of Shullsburg, and Chief Chad Kanable of Avoca were honored with the First Responder Awards for the 51st Assembly District.
