Fond du Lac, WI—Representative Jerry O’Connor (R-Fond du Lac) released the following statement regarding Governor Evers’ comments on refusing to opt into the Federal program which provides Federal tax credits for donations to Educational Scholarships:
“Opting into this new Federal program comes at no cost to the Wisconsin taxpayers, yet, once again, Governor Evers would rather put partisan politics above our children’s futures. The notion that allowing businesses to claim federal tax credits for education scholarship donations is “catastrophic” for public schools is absurd.” said Rep. O’Connor.
“This first of its kind opportunity to create a private-public partnership to get more resources to our kids and teachers is exactly what Wisconsin needs. In his budget address, Governor Evers declared 2025 the “Year of the Kid”, but all he has done thus far is the bidding of far-left interest groups- NOT your children.”
“The repercussions of Evers not opting into this program only hurts Wisconsin students. Our businesses will still be able to take advantage of the tax credit, but they’ll have to donate to scholarship programs outside of Wisconsin’s borders. This is only the latest example of Governor Evers’ political games hurting your kids. I hope he reconsiders by the time the bill reaches his desk. Wisconsin’s kids deserve better.”
