MADISON, Wis. – Yesterday, Rep. Lori Palmeri (D-Oshkosh) was sworn in at the State Capitol as the State Representative for Assembly District 54. During the 2025-2026 legislative session, she will serve as the ranking member on the following committees: Environment, and Forestry, Parks and Outdoor Recreation. Additionally, Representative Palmeri, who served on the Oshkosh Common Council and as Mayor for two terms, will serve as a member of the Local Government Committee.

Following the ceremony, Rep. Palmeri released the following statement:

“It is a distinct honor and privilege to serve the people of the 54th Assembly District. I am grateful for the trust our communities have placed in me as their representative, and I look forward to working on behalf of our neighbors,” stated Rep. Palmeri.

“Each legislative session presents an opportunity to address pressing issues facing Wisconsinites.

“As ranking member of the Environment Committee, I am eager to introduce legislation that protects our district and our state, particularly by ensuring clean water for all—especially in the face of threats posed by chemicals such as lead, PFAS, nitrates, and phosphorous, which have been found at harmful levels in drinking water across our state.

“Our residents’ health is at risk due to these harmful chemicals, which are linked to an increased risk of certain cancers, liver damage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and more.

“This term, my colleagues and I will be a voice for all Wisconsinites by promoting problem-solving policies for all communities.

“The time to get to work is now to ensure that every person in our state has the opportunity to thrive.”
