MADISON, WI – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed Assembly Joint Resolution 59, authored by Representative William Penterman (R-Hustisford), which officially proclaims June as Dairy Month in Wisconsin.
“I am honored to author the resolution officially designating June as Dairy Month in Wisconsin. Our dairy industry is the backbone of rural communities and a pillar of our state’s economy. Having grown up on a dairy farm, I know firsthand the dedication it takes, and I’m honored to recognize the men and women who make Wisconsin’s dairy industry a success,” said Rep. Penterman
The dairy industry today contributes $45.6 billion annually to the state’s economy, with nearly 6,000 dairy farms and over 1.28 million cows producing more than a quarter of the nation’s cheese.
Assembly Joint Resolution 59 passed with bipartisan support.
