Madison, WI — In response to Governor Evers’ vetoes of Assembly Bill 450 and Senate Bill 10, State Representative William Penterman (R-Hustisford) issued the following statement:

“On his way out the door, Tony Evers could not resist one last slap in the face to Wisconsin students and families. After fumbling the ball by setting an unreasonable implementation date for the 2021 International Building Code, Governor Evers has now dropped the ball during his second opportunity. He vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have set a clear and reasonable implementation date for the new commercial building code. There will be no third opportunity for the governor to do the right thing.

Additionally, Governor Evers vetoed another one of my bi-partisan bills that supported future servicemembers by allowing military recruiters access to common areas in high schools during the school day. Instead of supporting the future men and women who want to step up and service their nation, Governor Evers chose to align himself with the extreme left-wing of his party who does not support the military.

While Governor Evers wastes the time he has left in office, I will continue fighting cut costs, keep communities safe, and get things done.”
