MADISON, Wis. – Today, Governor Evers delivered his 2025-2027 biennial budget message. Representative Priscilla A. Prado (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement after the conclusion of Governor Evers’ fourth Budget Address:

“It was exciting moment to hear Governor Evers declare 2025 the Year of the Kid. Investing in our children at every step improves their future, and brightens Wisconsin. Ensuring that every kid has access to free school breakfast and lunch, and seriously investing in mental health services in schools will nurture their success.

“In the Year of the Kid, we must understand the serious burden of rising costs in child care services, prescription medications, and doctor visits on working-class families. His proposal to significantly lower property taxes and sales tax, and creating a price ceiling for medications will save Wisconsinites billions.

“Governor Evers recognizes the importance of investing in Wisconsin’s middle-class. His pledge to double Wisconsin’s personal income tax exemption, and expanding both BadgerCare and the Homestead Tax Credit will not only positively impact every Wisconsinite, but shows his dedication to uplifting those in our communities who need these services the most. As someone who has always come from a working-class family, I thank the Governor for his continued promise for economic security in our state.

“I support this budget wholeheartedly and am energized for this legislative session knowing that Governor Evers is assuming the responsibility of these serious issues that are most important to me and the constituents I represent. I hope the majority party will collaborate with us to make these intentions a reality.”
