Madison, WI – Rep. Treig E. Pronschinske released the following statement succeeding the 2025 State of the State address delivered by Governor Tony Evers:
“Tonight, Governor Tony Evers gave his annual address to the legislature and once again he talked about the fundamental importance of unity and bipartisanship. While I ultimately agree with his sentiment; I don’t think he agrees with his own sentiment. All you have to do is look at the egregious number of vetoes dished out in the past legislative session
“Governor Evers gladly took a lot of credit for tax cuts but often refused to give any sort of recognition towards my fellow Republicans. Governor Evers also failed to mention that he proudly vetoed a $3 billion tax cut simply because it was authored and offered by Republicans: this doesn’t seem very bipartisan to me.
“Governor Evers announced historic investments in education, child care, new programs, technical schools, and many other things without discussing any roadmap as to how to accomplish those goals. I believe it is crucial to have a plan, a belief Governor Evers seems not to share.
“I agree it is important that we make mental health, education, child care, and taxes a priority but we must make Wisconsin taxpayers money a priority as well. I also think it is worth noting that not once was our agricultural industry mentioned; even though it contributes $116.3 billion annually to our state’s economy. No mention of any farmer tax credit or anything related to benefiting our hard-working farmers is not okay. This state is bigger than Madison and Milwaukee contrary to popular belief.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues this upcoming session and I am honored to represent the 29th Assembly District.”
